[Cheerfulness is one of the many traits Gawain is known for, so a game like this is hardly off putting. Though he might have to talk to the octopus who put them together like this, because that was rude. So very rude.]
I believe that is indeed it. An ordinary enough game I would say.
[It seemed simple enough at least. And fortunately, Gawain wasn't unfamiliar with technology.]
Ah, I am Sir Gawain. It is a pleasure, my Lady.
[He gave a short bow, as the booth wouldn't allow more.]
[He's so proper. If Midna were a different kind of girl, she might find it a little intimidating. The stuffy concepts of traditional courts and even her own, have never exactly been her cup of tea, as it were. It's easy to remember why as she listens to him.
Zelda would probably like him.
She points to herself, wearing an impish smile.]
Midna. [After a moment's pause, she continues.] You can just call me by my name. [Nothing wrong with 'my Lady,' but she's not exactly ready to be open about who she is. She doubts she ever will be. Besides, she's not stupid enough to think her position has any sway in Lunatia.]
Now, I'm really ready. [She lifts her right hand and presses it to her designated panel, waiting for him to do the same.]
[Gawain is alright with casual. He's been in the Modern Era long enough to pick up the concept and it's probably best to have a relaxed atmosphere even though he would wish to treat this one as a lady.
But he presses his hand against the other panel, seeing it register him as well. Player 2, probably because he was second.]
[Swanky. Hakuno's been carried much less chivalrously at various points in her life, and is also willing enough to trust him to manhandle her.]
Thank you, Gawain.
[If he was less armored, she might be able to get some Chroma along the way, but alas, he is a knight in every sense, armored without the slightest vulnerable gap.]
[Somehow, working with a proper knight and not some incredible noble ham made Fish feel... really good about this. Not to mention that he thought them very reliable! Consider Fish pretty charmed.]
You can call me "Fish".
[The merfolk beams, feeling very good about this partnership.]
[ Junko bites down on her lower lip. It doesn't hurt at all and in fact, it looks perfectly fine. There won't be a single bruise or even a mark on it. However, that won't stop her from lying. ]
I don't mind if you carry me. [ It will be fun to be treated as if she is a princess. ]
[He'll kneel down first to check though, to make sure it isn't broken. Otherwise he might jostle the bone needlessly. He let's the gauntlets of he's wearing dematerialize, so that he can feel the ankle with his bare hands.]
[The way she asks him that is so blunt that Gawain has to blink for a few moments before he finally answers, because as a Servant, that is a loaded question.]
Ah, I was born in Britain actually. My Father had a Kingdom in Lothian actually. Things changed many centuries later though.
[ Lothian sounds somewhat familiar, though, she can't recall directly where it is. But his response to her, has her eyes shifting downward. If it makes him awkward to talk about where he's from, Gwenhwyfar completely understands. ]
I'm sorry, I'm not very good at this.
[ The slightest hint of eagerness is hinted in her expression as she glances back up at him. Now, she's hopeful, the prospect of meeting someone close to her home is a comfort. ]
You say you're from Britain? I am, too, I'm from Cameliard.
[Of course they must try. It is the way of a knight. And this sort of game is no different than a battle. A knight often has to solve odd riddles anyways.]
A certain reputation? What would that...
[Now he's struggling a bit, because even if he had spoken with Tristan more often, how is Gawain supposed to interpret that?]
...is it a mule?
[It's a desperate attempt that is a failure of course.]
[Gawain sure doesn't want to meet them again. Well, no, he would want a rematch, but now isn't the time for revenge fantasies.
He notices the reaction and thinks on it, wondering now, because so many things are not adding up.]
I am also a Saber. And a knight. [He volunteers, though it's probably obvious, despite the more casual dress he is wearing, choosing the jeans and slacks that some people favor. But bearing says a lot sometimes.] Do you have a Master here?
[ of course gawain is a saber-class. he, too, is most suited to it, and despite himself, he almost smiles. really.. he's just the same as he ever was, isn't he? ] Are you? [ he wonders lightly, as if this man hadn't spent years at his side. .. well. another version of this man.
after a moment, though, he shakes his head. ] No master. [ he would've sensed ayaka by now, and he hopes--prays, if god listens to beings like him--that she'll be left to live peacefully. she's been through enough. ]
What of you? [ is he well? if he has a master, are they strong enough to provide what he needs..? ]
[Gawain almost wants to protest, but then decides against it, because he's remembering his Master now. If anyone should have this conversation with Roman, it is her. Whatever conversation that might be.
And honestly, is there any reason to distrust Roman himself? Whatever secrets he had, he more than did his part. Gawain should be giving that the respect it deserves. He understands sacrifice as much as anyone.
So after a moment, he lets the tension ease out of him and then nods his head.]
Whatever your reasoning, I cannot say I disagree with it. It is sound. And in truth, I have the same concerns, that I might end up saying something that has dangerous consequences.
[He laughs then, a genuine smile, as if a storm cloud had passed.]
[ The oddly tense moment between them seems to pass, at last, and it's all Romani can do not to let his shoulders slump with obvious relief.
There's definitely something strange going on here, and perhaps in time he'll understand it all better, but for now he's merely glad Gawain is willing to give him a pass. ]
Yeah... it's good to see you too.
I feel better knowing Ritsuka has an honorable Servant like you around!

Ah, so that is what happened.
[He frowned and looked around to see if there was anywhere safe.]
We should find somewhere safe for you to rest then. I shall carry you.
[Uh oh, the princess carry is soon going to commence.]
no subject
Thank you, Gawain.
[If he was less armored, she might be able to get some Chroma along the way, but alas, he is a knight in every sense, armored without the slightest vulnerable gap.]
I'm assuming you've been doing well?
no subject
And unfortunately, that steel armor is pretty impenetrable.]
Hah, well enough. I have a new Master now. Maybe you have met her? Ritsuka Fujimaru

Really? They seem like they would be too chewy. Unless you stewed them...
[Gawain said as he hacked a particularly tough knot, causing a bunch of the vines to loosen up.]
Maybe the roots are safe to eat though. Like a potato or something of that nature.
[It's a bit silly right now, but there really is only so much Gawain can talk about woe and worry, despite being a serious person.]
For Fish
I would feel very reassured if you were with me. You seem very reliable.
[Gawain would never devalue any sort of battlefield support.
[Especially when Waver aka the np battery, isn't here to help.]]But let us strike forth then. I am Sir Gawain and I am pleased to have your company.
no subject
You can call me "Fish".
[The merfolk beams, feeling very good about this partnership.]
I hope I don't let you down. Please lead the way!
no subject
[That seemed very... on the nose for a name, but then again, who was Gawain to judge such things?
And at least they seemed like good company for the road.]
But very well, let us go and fight our way through? The situation probably isn't going to resolve itself anytime soon.

How bad? Might I take a look at it? Otherwise, if you do not think you can walk, I can carry you. I am sure you would weigh barely anything.
[Granted, as a Servant, Gawain could pick up a 500 pound man no problemo, but she doesn't need to know that.]

Your presence would be most reassuring, My Lady. I am Sir Gawain and I know that with you by my side, I would have nothing to fear.
[He means that too. She seems much lighter compared to him, so she should be be agile enough to cover any gaps he might have.]
no subject
[And hey, maybe being called by name by
ayako kawasumia vaguely familiar voice will be reassuring. After which, she dips her head in greeting.]
My name is Gwendolyn. I am but a soldier in my homeland, so there is no need for such an address, however.

You do not look nearly as well since the last time I saw you. Though I cannot imagine it was a horse at least.
[He finishes the last tangle near him before approaching.]
Seriously, you do not look well at all.
[That's a super polite way of saying "you look like shit."]
no subject
Yeah? Probably because I don't feel great. Fighting beyond your limit can do that.
